2019 RLSS Festival of Lifesaving Host Announced

The Royal Life Saving Society are pleased to announce that RLSS UK have been appointed to host the 2019 Festival of Lifesaving. After the successful inaugural Festival of Lifesaving held in Durban in August 2017, the event in 2019 will follow the principles of encouraging participation and lifesaving development.

Clive Holland, Deputy Commonwealth President of the RLSS said “We are delighted that RLSS UK has agreed to host the event. The experience that the UK can bring to developing the Festival of Lifesaving will ensure we have a solid programme going forward for other nations to host.”

Di Steer, RLSS UK Chief Executive Officer said “We are very proud to be chosen as hosts for the Commonwealth Festival of Lifesaving, as it makes a welcome return to the UK. It is a massive coup for us. We’ll hit the ground running in 2018 to ensure that we, as a governing body, delivery a festival to remember!”

The 2019 Festival of Lifesaving will be held in the latter quarter of 2019, actual dates will be confirmed along with venue details early in 2018.

The Festival of Lifesaving manual and event rules that were used at the 2017 Festival of Lifesaving will be reviewed by the RLSS Development through Sport Committee early in 2018.
