Royal Life Saving Society Cameroon


The Royal Life Saving Society – Cameroon (RLSS Cameroon) is a non profit organisation and the leading organisation for drowning prevention, water safety education, lifesaving, lifeguarding and lifesaving sport training and competitions in the Republic of Cameroon.

The Society is Registered with the Ministry of Sports and Physical Education of the Republic of Cameroon (MSPE)

RLSS Cameroon are a Full Member of the International Life Saving Federation (ILS)

Our mission is the prevention of drowning, education in water safety, the knowledge and mastery of aquatic survival skills and life saving techniques are of utmost importance. In any emergency the skills learnt can help save lives and prevent further complications.

We are dedicated in providing knowledge and skills needed to save lives from drowning and emergencies related to cardiac arrest. To date, thousands of people have qualified from the various programmes offered by the Society.

The Royal Life Saving Society Cameroon offers courses for all: non-swimmers, swimmers and for people with disabilities. Our programmes include:

The AquaSurvival Programme (for beginners)

This programme is a complete scheme of training in water safety, safe swimming and rescue skills, based on the concept of ‘Sports For All’.

Life Saving Training (for competent swimmers)

The Society’s Awards Scheme offers candidates various opportunities to train for the following awards : ¨ Elementary Certificate ¨ Intermediate Certificate ¨ Lifeguard Qualification Level 1&2 Pool/Beach Instructor’s Certificate.

Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation Training (CPR)

The CPR courses introduce candidates to standard guidelines in responding to emergencies related to cardiac arrest.


The RLSS Cameroon’s AquaSurvival is a complete programme of water safety, safe swimming and rescue skills. This progressive programme provides for the sequential instruction of survival swimming and rescue skills.

Professional Lifeguard Training

The Lifeguard Training course is a 40 hours programme which covers all aspects of water safety, pool supervision, rescue and first aid. The curriculum is designed for those who wish to take up lifeguarding as a profession. Candidates must possess at least the aquatic lifesaving award to be eligible to join the course.
