Director for Sport Development
Rebecca Boyd has been involved with Lifesaving Sport for several decades and a Royal Lifesaving Society (RLSS) award holder since public school where her interest in drowning prevention began. Over nearly three decades as a manager in the post-secondary recreation and sport field, Rebecca has been able to combine her joint passions of sport and recreation, with the drowning prevention mission.
Rebecca has held numerous roles within lifesaving in Canada including as a National Sport Commission member, member of the Lifesaving Society – Ontario Branch Council of Officers and Sport Council, National Trainer, Examiner Mentor, and Chief Referee. In addition to work within Canada, Rebecca has been an active member of the ILS Sport Commission since 2010. From work in the field of sport for development, Rebecca was a presenter at the World Conference on Drowning in 2013 and 2015, and Chief Referee at the Lifesaving World Championships.
For her voluntary activities, Rebecca has received the RLSS Commonwealth Certificate of Thanks, Service Medal, Bar to Service Medal, Service Cross, Bar to Service Cross, and the Lifesaving Saving Society Canada Centenary Award.
