Pool Lifeguard For Low Resource Settings

RLSS and its members work cooperatively with various other organisations across different sectors to support communities in developing lifesaving education initiatives and drowning prevention programmes.

The suite of resources for pool lifeguard training in a low resource setting has been developed by the RLSS at the request of several members.

It is intended that the RLSS members, who wish to introduce a pool lifeguard training program, adapts the resources to fit their local demographics, cultures, environmental conditions, and national circumstances, as necessary.

The intention is that this collection of resources enables our members to quickly adapt the programme for their use and is able to provide a professional high-quality resource to their trainees.

These resources do not set a standard for pool lifeguarding. It is the RLSS member who can provide the local expertise that must set the appropriate standard.

RLSS members are entitled to change any content as they require. We however request that a copy of the revised resources is sent back to the RLSS Commonwealth Headquarters by email. This allows the RLSS to increase the library of resources that are held to support other members.

RLSS members can access the RLSS Pool Lifeguard for low resource settings by logging into our Document Library Login members area.

NB: To avoid any potential confusion, the RLSS recommends its members should follow any relevant government regulations or industry guidelines relating to swimming pool operations and/or lifeguard training in their respective country.
