Togolese Swimming and Lifesaving Federation (FETONAS)

The Togolese Swimming and Lifesaving Federation (FETONAS), founded in 1976, is the national body responsible for the development of swimming and lifesaving in Togo. For many years, its main focus was on competitive swimming, but in recent years, drowning prevention and water safety have become key priorities, recognizing the complementary nature of swimming and lifesaving.

Today, FETONAS brings together around one hundred swimming coaches and about two hundred lifeguards and pool supervisors, most of them working around swimming pools. The federation is also working actively to introduce swimming into schools, providing children with the opportunity not only to learn to swim but also to be educated on water safety and drowning prevention, as children remain the most vulnerable to this issue.

Affiliated with international organizations such as Africa Aquatics, World Aquatics, and the Royal Life Saving Society (RLSS), FETONAS relies on these partnerships to strengthen its programs and aims to become a leading reference in west  Africa, particularly in the field of aquatic safety.
