Hellen Nkatha Muthomi has been a researcher and Lecturer at Kenyatta University since the year 2003, with major interest in aquatic activities. She has continued to pursue interests in risk management and safety in physical activities. Her work addresses critical issues related to risk management in the East African region. She is a member of the Kenya Bureau of Standards Facilities committee which has published the Kenyan aquatic facilities safety standards.
She swims every week and is very passionate about addressing water safety and drowning prevention in Kenya. She is committed to exploring innovative solutions to water safety under the WHO intervention on preventing drowning through teaching swimming, water safety and safe rescue skills. She is a champion of these activities at the Super Marlins Swim Club and at Kenyatta University, Department of Recreation and Sports Management.
