Expression of Interest submitted to include lifesaving sport at Victoria 2026 Commonwealth Games

We are pleased to announce that the RLSS have been working with colleagues from the International Lifesaving Federation, Life Saving Victoria, and Surf Life Saving Australia to submit an expression of interest for lifesaving to be included as a sport on the program of the 2026 Regional Victoria Commonwealth Games

If successful, this would be an excellent opportunity to showcase the impact of pool and surf lifesaving sport at the Commonwealth Games for the first time, and provide exciting opportunities and pathways for our members.  With all other Commonwealth Games aquatic sports being held in the Geelong region, it makes sense to host lifesaving sports in this area, consolidating water sports in the one region.

Up to five sports will be added to the Commonwealth Games program and the final package of additional sports is set to be announced later in 2022.

Victoria 2026 will run from 17-29 March 2026 with global sport being brought to four regional hubs in Geelong, Bendigo, Ballarat and Gippsland, as the Commonwealth Games launches a first-time multi-city regional model.
