Young people play a vital and valued part of RLSS and its members at many levels. We support interventions that enable youngsters to be safe near and around water by learning vital water safety skills and encourage the engagement and participation of young people in addressing drowning prevention in the commonwealth.
Our Director for Youth Development is seeking to form a Youth Advisory Board ( please see the following link Terms of Reference) to better engage our youth membership to inform strategy and enable a targeted approach to engagement in all activities ranging from volunteering, lifesaving sport and commercial lifeguarding. The scope of this group will be focused on youth engagement and integration with existing RLSS Commonwealth initiatives and further engagement with campaigns and large sporting events involving or hosted by the RLSS Commonwealth.
This group will build on the work that our previous Youth Advocate initiated and we hope those on the Youth Advisory Group that was set up at the time will continue assisting our Director of Youth Development.
